Abandoned Two-Wheelers Clog Margao Station Parking, Authorities Yet to Act

Visitors to the Margao railway station are finding it increasingly difficult to navigate the parking lot, which has slowly turned into a dumping ground for abandoned two-wheelers. Rows of dusty, unused bikes and scooters now occupy precious space, leaving little room for commuters who genuinely need to park their vehicles.

Konkan Railway officials say the issue has been flagged for quite some time. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has already identified several abandoned motorcycles and scooters scattered across the premises. However, despite notifying the concerned authorities, no concrete action has been taken to clear them out.

KRC senior official Baban Ghatge confirmed the situation, explaining that while the RPF has completed the first step—identifying the vehicles—they are now waiting for local authorities to take the next move: contacting owners and arranging for the disposal of the abandoned bikes.

Frustrated commuters say the station’s parking lot is looking more like a scrapyard than a public facility. “This place has literally become a dumping ground for old vehicles,” one citizen said, urging authorities to step in and restore order to the space.

For now, the abandoned two-wheelers continue to pile up, leaving both railway officials and passengers hoping for swift action to free up the much-needed parking area.
