Alert RPF Duo Saves Passenger From Near-Tragedy at Margao Station

A railway passenger at Margao station had what can only be described as a miraculous escape after he slipped and fell into the dangerous gap between a moving train and Platform No. 1. Thanks to the quick reflexes of two alert Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, a potential tragedy was averted.

The incident occurred during the 7 pm departure of Train No. 20112, the Konkan Kanya Express. As the train began moving out of the station, the passenger attempted to get off—an extremely risky act. He lost his balance and slipped, falling into the narrow space between the platform and the train.

Just a few feet away, RPF Constable Kapil Saini and Head Constable R. S. Bhai noticed what was happening. Without wasting a second, they rushed forward and pulled the man to safety before the train could cause any harm. Their swift actions likely saved his life.

Santosh Kumar Jha, Chairman and Managing Director of Konkan Railway, recognised their bravery and awarded each of them ₹10,000 for their presence of mind and timely intervention.

The shaken passenger later expressed heartfelt gratitude to the officers who rescued him.

In a statement, Konkan Railway once again urged travellers not to attempt boarding or alighting from moving trains. “Such actions pose a serious risk to life and safety. Your safety is our utmost priority,” the statement read.

Thanks to two alert officers, a moment of misjudgment did not turn into a fatal mistake—and a family did not have to receive tragic news
