The 1st Open Funakoshi National Karate Championship 2025, held at the Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium, brought together over 800 talented karatekas from across India, showcasing skill, discipline, and competitive spirit.
Among the participants, the Thivim Karate Dojo stood out with a stellar performance, bringing home an impressive 13 medals. Under the expert guidance of Sensei Sandesh Santosh Kolikar (Black Belt 3rd Dan) and mentorship from Sensei Mahendra Naik, IJKAI Goa’s Style Head, the young athletes displayed remarkable technique, focus, and sportsmanship.
The star of the team was Mahaj Vinayak Porob, who clinched two Gold medals in Kumite and Kata, demonstrating not only exceptional skill but also maturity beyond his years. His performance was widely applauded for composure and precision under pressure.
